"Snail" "Toys from the 80s"
Yep. I'm on that "Oh my god, do you remember having/seeing that in the 80s?" kick. This past weekend Mary Leigh and I were shopping for junk. Upon seeing a figurine of a pink turtle, I had a flashback of a childhood toy. It was a turtle (or snail) that stored other creatures in its shell and could only be opened with a key. Alas, I found what I was looking for. Thank you internet. You never let me down.

So, why is it that lately every time I try to support local businesses and businessmen (e.g. the small-time plumber that came to my house at 7pm on Friday evening and promptly told me I need a new water heater and left after being there for only 5 minutes) I get screwed? However, I go to a "souless" chain such as Starbucks and I'm showered with compliments by every worker in the store. Yes, it may be fake and this isn't always the case, but, damn, I'm having a much better day b/c of them.

Jeez, I'm starting to sound like my embittered coworker/fellow grad. student who incessantly plays the role of a martyr. Get me out of this town.
