Before I forget
My Dream 1/31/04:
Mame, Ms. Comrade, me, and unknown others are renovating a house. It's time for lunch. Ms. Comrade walks outside and starts talking on her cell to make New Years plans. I ask Mame who Ms. C is talking to. She says "Taco Bell." So, Mame says to everyone that we should have Papa John's for lunch. It's agreed upon. Mame says, " before we eat let's toast to The Zy." That evening there's a pig roast sponsored by Team Clermont. I noticed a group of animals (i.e. monkeys and a panda) and their owners sitting in circle. They begin an animal roll call of some sorts. The animals walk towards the middle of the circle then walk back. They repeat, and I wake up.

The stuff crisis is made of
One day I'm going to wake up and realize that I have chosen a career that I may not be very well suited for...but not today.

As my last class of the day was ending, I saluted my exiting students with "Have a good weekend. MAKE WISE CHOICES!" This went over well with the skaters and the pot smoking jocks, you might imagine, as they went running down the hall screaming profanities. But my favorite little indie rocker said as he passed, "Aw, Ms. W, you're alright."

Indeed I am.

Love + 1
I have a fabulous new haircut thanks to my fabulous new hairdresser. It's a little more expensive than the last, but almost priceless when considering the haircut, Aveda products, more personable hairdresser, and the fact that Bad Hair was in the waiting section. Thanks Ms. Comrade for the encouragement.

Making love (out of nothing at all)
This morning, during a break in class, a classmate and I headed for the vending machines in the room within the graduate lounge. Yet, we did not expect to find the man who restocks the vending machines with his zipper down and buckling his belt. What in the hell happened there?

Question: What is the proper protocol to asking your assistant principal if signing a letter of intent for the next school year is binding or not and how do you do it without starting that rumor mill that you may not be planning on coming back?

There is a pile of mail on the floor of the office that Big Gray has been promising to pick up for almost 2 weeks now. I'm silently protesting. Every day they are a bit more scattered thanks to the menagerie of animals we have running around.

It's 5:30 and I'm already in my pajamas settling down for the sleep of a lifetime.

20's in the panhandle
There's frost everywhere. It's as close as I'll ever get to snow here.

There is ice on the ground and school is cancelled so both BG and I have the day off from work. Getting that call from the emergency phone tree this morning just as I was cursing my alarm clock for ringing was like getting a pardon from the governor in the 11th hour.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Is Lost in Translation really a comedy?

Was anyone else taken aback by Kevin Shield's new music played in the background at the Golden Globes? Do you think he'll get nominated for an Oscar?

Either Jennifer Connely or Naomi Watts could've easily replaced Nicole Kidman in the Golden Globe best actress nominations.

Big Gray and his buddies are big fans of making top 10 lists and desert island picks. I've always refrained from making such lists for fear that I'd leave something out and it will somehow be set in stone and forever unchangeable, but today as I was driving around and listening to Joni Mitchell I made an incomplete, but first-ever desert island list according to Mame:
Joni Mitchell- Blue
Guns and Roses- Appetite for Destruction
Rolling Stones- Exile on Main Street
Decendants- Somery
Bruce Springsteen- Darkness on the Edge of Town

You can only take 5, right?

The chicken or the egg?
Big Gray is still in bed and I'm sitting at the computer listening to the rain and watching the clock. My plan for today is to go shopping in Commerce. You heard me right, all you out of towners, we have a shopping district called Commerce. I have always been facinated by this town. The only thing to do in Commerce is shop, but there is a proper old section of town with actual houses and a Dairy Queen. So, was this just a clever PR move to expand the town and make it Commerce! or just a happy coincidence? You make the call.
Too bad there isn't a Consumerism, GA because we'd give old Commerce a run for it's money...
