And the Oscar goes to...
I don't know. This year is going to be tough. I've been trying to make a list of my favorite movies, but there's too many. I just watched 21 Grams, and it's probably in my top 10. It's a happy fun movie, like--ya' know--The Deer Hunter. Seriously, not one moment is uplifting. Why must all great depressers be atleast 2 hours long? It's not enough to be miserable for an hour and a half. I'm quite sure the audience didn't know what they were getting into. Sean Penn wins my vote for best actor. Naomi and Benicio deserve a nomination too.
Got to see good previews: the new Mamet, Coen Brothers, and Charlie Kaufman.

Help
So, I'm going to buy a computer within the next week. It's almost necessary. My monitor is about to shut down and the rest of the computer is 5 years old. I don't need anything fancy, but I do want it to last. I'll use it mainly for paper writing and the internet. I think I'd prefer a PC for my purposes. Any recommendations? What do I need to look for?

Gearing up for the new year...
This year Big Gray and I will be spending New Year's at my parents' mountain house with 10 of our nearest and dearest. It's the first time since 1999 that I've travelled out of town for the new year, that last time being an ill-fated trip to New York in the front seat of a pick-up truck with two guys, too much drinking and a bar fight in my honor. (wow, that sounds a lot more sleazy than it was...)

We leave tomorrow so there will be yet another lapse in RF on my part, but the agent seems to have things under control. If you haven't checked out her latest posting with the Dave Barry links you are a fool. A damn fool.

Our Christmas was a 3 family event in 3 days. How old do you have to get before you are allowed to just stay home? Or do you have to have kids? Big Gray made out like a bandit on all sides. His booty included cd's, dvd's and video games. My collection of loot was a bit more tame, receiving my very first set of Christmas china, among other things. I have officially joined the ranks. PEM once asked me "Who is excessive enough to have a set of china that they only use for Christmas time?" The answer? My mom, who has 3 sets of Christmas china: one casual set, one semi-formal and one formal. You never know when the Bush's might drop in...

Happy New Year everyone, and I hope to see all you long distance friends frequently in 2004.

I love this guy
